It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was out the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
