Under-fire coach Ange Postecoglou delivered an emotional justification about his career as he vowed to claim silverware at Nottingham Forest provided with patience

The veteran coach is being questioned following his inability to win none of his initial seven fixtures after taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo in September

The club has been considering available choices over the pause in fixtures, including former Burnley manager the experienced tactician one of the candidates reviewed as an alternative despite Postecoglou only being appointed for just 38 days

They host the London club in their next match and Postecoglou delivered a lengthy address at his pre-match press conference, with Forest sitting 17th in England's top flight

"Certain people focus at the weeds yet I notice at the progress being made," he declared, "I'm genuinely enthusiastic since I work with a group of young players ready to evolve"

He also confirmed there was no discussion with the club's owner the Greek businessman over the recent pause

"I refuse to spend my energy about others' opinions" he added

"I simply don't conform, not only in this role, throughout football" he clarified

Prior Management Role

"I took over Tottenham and received instructions by the leadership at the time 'this team has to win silverware'"

"He commented 'we've tried to hire successful managers, the Portuguese coach and the former Chelsea boss and it hasn't worked, we require a different approach'"

"I felt somewhat insulted by those words since I consider myself as triumphant"

Defending His Record

"We secured fifth place my first year" he remembered

"On each occasion the star striker found the net I often thought he'd just stayed for additional time as it would have proven useful to retain him following our fifth-place finish"

"But somehow that season has been erased from the record books" he argued

Looking Forward

"Thus, we reach the present situation in which there exists an alternative narrative to tell, that maybe I'm not an unsuccessful coach who was fortunate to obtain this role"

"but possibly I am a coach that when allowed opportunity, the tale invariably finishes identically"

"At all my previous clubs, the outcome is identical - with me holding silverware"

Postecoglou won the Europa League in May - the club's initial honor after a long drought and their first European trophy after forty-one years

Former Celtic manager also promised, allowed sufficient opportunity, he would continue his record of claiming honors at each club he's coached
