Thursday saw, the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted searches at multiple residences as it expanded its probe into a shooting in Washington that occurred on the previous day, leaving one guardsman killed and another in grave state.
Alleged Shooter's History and Home Searched
These raids included a residence in the state of Washington associated with the alleged gunman, Afghan citizen Lakanwal, who investigators revealed was involved with a CIA-backed unit in Afghanistan before arriving in the US in the year 2021 under a resettlement program.
Agents took possession of a variety of electronic devices from the property, including mobile phones, portable computers, and Apple devices, and spoke with his kin, the head of the FBI Patel announced at a media update.
National Guard Member Beckstrom Passes Away After Shooting
Later on Thursday, the President revealed that Sarah Beckstrom, one of the national guard troops injured in Washington DC, had passed away.
Beckstrom, aged 20, was one of two soldiers of the National Guard targeted; the other individual, Andrew Wolfe, 24 years old, is still gravely injured, as stated by the President.
