Exploring an Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Poop in a Mission to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have discovered numerous interesting independent titles. But, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game lets you play a hero that is literally a dung striving to travel to a restroom. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: just use a one button to leap. Across 150 stages, battle boss fights and visit a store to acquire customizations for your dung hero.

Time your jumps with caution, as a wrong move requires starting over. Leap using air pockets to hurl the poop upward, traverse crumbling platforms, and interact with switches to unlock new areas. Earn coins to purchase challenging levels as gameplay intensifies.

Visually, the experience boasts vibrant environments and a killer soundtrack. The retro graphics featuring shifting geometric shapes could recall fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though hard to think of other games where you play as a coiled turd, gaming have long included toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create explosives from character excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, this theme is present a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its silly premise, Unko Technica has already received notable awards, like taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is available currently on Steam, with the final release set to launch on computers this November.
