British Military Sites to Accommodate Asylum Seekers in Initiative to Cease Hotel Usage
Hundreds refugee applicants might be housed in military barracks as the authorities seeks to terminate the use of hotel accommodations.
Discussions are underway regarding the conversion of two sites - a facility in Scotland and the other in the southern England - for accommodation for 900 men.
The government leader has ordered Interior Ministry and Military Ministry authorities to expedite initiatives to locate appropriate military sites.
The ruling party has pledged to terminate the operation of temporary hotel accommodations, which have consumed billions in funds and become a central issue for anti-migrant protests.
Planned Defense Sites
Asylum seekers might be placed in the Cameron Barracks in the Scottish city and Crowborough army training camp in the southern county by the end of next month.
Commercial facilities, short-term shelter and otherwise disused accommodation are also being examined for future accommodation.
Administration Assurances
Government sources stated that each location would adhere to safety regulations.
"We are extremely concerned at the scale of illegal migrants and refugee lodging facilities."
"This government will close all refugee hotels. Work are progressing effectively, with more suitable sites being proposed to ease pressure on communities and cut refugee accommodation expenses."
Present Housing Figures
Around thirty-two thousand individuals seeking protection are at this time being sheltered in hotel facilities, representing a reduction from a peak of over fifty-six thousand in the previous year.
A recent report found that substantial amounts of public funds had been "squandered" on refugee housing.
Prior Military Site Usage
Two ex-armed forces locations - the Wethersfield facility in southeastern England and former military base in southeastern England - are currently being operated to shelter asylum seekers after being established under the former administration.
The administration head commented on the situation, saying: "The government is resolved to terminate every refugee hotel. I can't tell you how troubled and alarmed we are that we face a challenge as substantial as these developments by the last government."
